Description

Cinnamon essential oil is a rich, spicy and intensely warming oil known for its bold, cozy aroma and emotionally comforting character. Steam distilled from the bark of Cinnamomum cassia (also known as Cassia or Chinese Cinnamon), this oil has a deep, sweet-spicy aroma that is both invigorating and grounding. A little goes a long way with this powerful essential oil.

⚠️ Note: Cinnamon Bark oil is a “hot” oil; always dilute very well and avoid use on sensitive or broken skin.

Why People Love It

  • Fresh, clean-smelling home: a warm, spicy note in diffuser blends and DIY cleaning sprays
  • Warming aroma: a cozy scent for cold days and chilly evenings
  • Festive favorite: the classic scent of holiday baking and seasonal blends
  • Comforting mood: a scent that feels like warmth, safety and resilience
  • Massage blends: a warming note in very well-diluted massage oils
  • Uplifts and energizes: a bright, spicy aroma for focus and motivation

Aroma Chemistry

Cinnamon Bark essential oil is rich in distinctive aromatic compounds:

  • Cinnamaldehyde: the primary component, responsible for cinnamon’s unmistakable sweet, spicy warmth
  • Eugenol: adds a clove-like spiciness (also found in clove)
  • Linalool: contributes a soft, slightly floral roundness
  • Cinnamyl Acetate: adds a sweet, warm aromatic complexity

Together these compounds give Cinnamon its rich, warming and stimulating aroma. It is one of the most powerful oils in aromatherapy and should always be used with care.

Energetic, Spiritual & Symbolic Properties

  • Chakras: Root and Sacral, for grounding, passion and energetic flow
  • Color Correspondence: Deep Red and Gold, for vitality, courage and inner fire
  • Planetary Influence: Sun and Mars, for heat, action and motivation

In energetic traditions, Cinnamon is associated with warmth, passion and energetic momentum. It is used to dispel feelings of emotional coldness, reignite purpose and stabilize the spirit, especially during times of low energy or stagnation.

Blending & Compatibility

Cinnamon Bark’s bold, spicy aroma blends best in small amounts and pairs beautifully with:

  • Sweet Orange or Tangerine: for cheerful, festive diffuser blends
  • Clove Bud: for rich, warming spice blends
  • Ginger or Cardamom: for warm, spicy chai-like blends
  • Patchouli or Vetiver: to ground its heat and balance its intensity
  • Vanilla or Peru Balsam: for sweet, cozy, comforting blends
  • Pine or Cedarwood: to add depth and earthiness

Suggested Uses

  • Nebulizing Diffuser®: use 20 to 25 drops blended with softer oils (e.g., Orange or Cedarwood) for a warm, seasonal aroma
  • Topical Application: dilute to 0.5 to 1% in carrier oil for a warming massage (patch test required)
  • Natural Cleaner: combine with Lemon and Tea Tree in a DIY spray for a fresh, spicy scent while you clean
  • Holiday Blends: use in diffusers to create a festive, cozy atmosphere
  • Cozy Moments: inhale gently for a warm, comforting aroma

Safety & Shelf Life

  • Shelf Life: 3 to 4 years
  • Children: not recommended for children under 10; keep out of reach
  • Pregnancy: avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your healthcare provider
  • Pets: use with extreme caution; avoid diffusing near pets, especially cats
  • Skin Safety: highly dermal-irritating; must be diluted heavily (0.5% max); patch test before use

Tip: For a cozy winter blend, combine Cinnamon Bark (1 drop) with Sweet Orange, Clove and Vanilla in your diffuser: it’s warm, welcoming and comforting.
