Origin and Composition
Eucalyptus was once used by ancient peoples to cover scrapes, bruises and serious wounds. Originally found primarily in Australia, the eucalyptus essential oil is extracted via steam distillation from the leaves and young twigs of this extremely tall, hardwood tree.
Eucalyptus essential oil has vast and wide-ranging uses, including as a cure-all for fungal, respiratory and viral infections among many others. The oil is mostly pale yellow in color and watery in viscosity with a fairly sharp, distinctive and fresh aroma that is slightly sweet and reminiscent of camphor.
For aromatherapy use. Also as a room freshener, deodorizer, purifier or in a mist or topical solution (with dilution) as a method of repelling mosquitoes.
Eucalyptus essential oil is great when combined with benzoin, lavender, lemongrass, lemon and pine.
