How Does Color Therapy And Aromatherapy Interact Toward Healing?
There are many types of therapies in existence today. Some therapies are physical, some are focused on speech, and some are used to help heal the mind. Many times, physical and emotional problems exist together, making holistic therapies very useful for treatment.
What Is Holistic Therapy?
Holistic therapy treats the entire person in mind, body, and spirit. It is used to help people achieve a sense of general well-being and optimal health. Holistic therapy brings balance by ensuring that all parts of a person are working properly in the most natural way possible. A doctor or therapist who practices holistic treatment will do more than simply prescribe medications for an ailment. They will look deeper into the factors that could be causing the ailment.
How Color Therapy is used in Holistic Treatment
Color therapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses colors to heal physical and emotional issues. Certain colors can uplift, while other colors have the ability to calm and soothe. Using these colors in a therapy session can ease symptoms and improve physical or emotional health.
Color therapy has been used for many years and has continued to play a role in some cultures today. Color is often seen as one of the languages of the soul and can affect people in many ways, including:
- Influencing mood and thought
- Impacting the senses
- Helping express personality
- Affecting perception
- Creating symbolism and branding
Color therapy treatment can be delivered through the eyes by looking at a color for a few minutes. Color therapists can help match the right color with the desired effect.
How Aromatherapy is used in Holistic Treatment
People have been using aromatherapy to bring balance to their life for many years. It is known as the practice of using pure and natural essences that are extracted from different plants to improve a person’s health or mood. Aromatherapy has been used throughout civilizations and cultures since the early days of the pharaohs. It is a form of alternative medicine that can help in healing without prescription medications or invasive medical treatments.
When using aromatherapy as part of a holistic treatment plan, the different components found in essential oils are used to promote healing. Aromatherapy has been gaining in popularity due to an increase in scientific support. Studies have shown how it can decrease anxiety and improve sleep in some people.
Aromatherapy can be delivered by inhaling essential oils through an essential oil diffuser or mixing essential oils with a carrier oil for topical application.

This is a great article.
I learned about color and scent therapy when I was very young. My mother used bright colors in our rooms to help us always feel better. My room had a base of sunshine yellow with pink and orange flowers with green stems and blue birds. She mostly sprayed our rooms with Jovan green grass oil which was her signature scent or wind song. But every now and then she would use Avon’s somewhere or Lily of the valley and my grandmother would always use a blend of white musk and lavender and the room I would stay in was pink with a lime green trim and yellow daisy’s. I miss those simple carefree days!
Huh, explains why so many diffusers come with changing lights. I knew about the benefits of color and the oils but together, WOW.
