Recreate The Smell Of Winter And Snow In Your House

Many of us want the scents in our homes to reflect the season. What are the best ways to recreate the smell of winter and snow in your home this season? We’ve taken the time to compile our favorite holiday essential oil blends. If you have never used essential oils, there is no better time to start. Not only are essential oils safer than candles, but they provide numerous health benefits as well.

Aromatherapy Diffuser

Before purchasing essential oils, you’ll want to ensure that you have the proper equipment to release the scents throughout your home. The best way to do so is with an aromatherapy diffuser. We provide many aromatherapy diffusers in our online store, including:

If you are not familiar with aromatherapy diffusers, you could find yourself overwhelmed by these options. However, choosing the right diffuser should not stressful. A diffuser that is simplistic in design should do the trick. Many of our diffusers feature high-quality wood and specialty glass. They do not require heat or water, which is critical. Users should never heat essential oils.

Although, in some cases you can apply essential oils topically, purchasing an aromatherapy diffuser is the best way to spread scents through your home. Consider buying a few diffusers to put in various rooms of your house. Kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and basements are all places where you could place a diffuser.

Also, remember that you could also add more drops to the diffuser than the initial “recipe” calls for. For instance, one of the blends we’ve provided below, the English Pomander, requires a total of five drops of oil. If you would like to make your diffuser last longer, you could double the mixture and add more liquid to your diffuser.

Blending Essential Oils

Once you have your aromatherapy diffuser, you’ll then need to mix various essential oils to create the festive holiday scents for which you’re searching. Blends aren’t necessary, as the oils will do just fine if you put them in the diffuser by themselves. However, blending the oils will allow you to match the smell of winter and snow more closely.

Mixing oils could also make them healthier. That’s because some oils better-promote the effects of other oils. For instance, peppermint, an essential oil used during the holidays, intensifies the effects of other oils. So, while essential oils are excellent on their own, they’re even more potent when blended. Below, you’ll find some of our favorite winter essential oil blends.

Winter Essential Oil Blends

One of our favorite blends during the winter is “Christmas Tree.” To create this, you’ll want to add one drop of Cinnamon Essential Oil, two drops of Sweet Orange Oil, and four drops of our Pacific Northwest Oil to a diffuser. This is one of the best blends to help freshen your rooms with pleasant scents.

Cinnamon is an example of an oil that enhances the function of other oils. Including it will help increase the effectiveness of the mixture. It will help bring out the winter scent of trees found in the Pacific Northwest Oil. The Pacific Northwest Oil contains cedarwood, pine, juniper, and cypress. This refreshing blend will be sure to fill your home with the scent of a Christmas tree.

Another blend that we like during the holiday season is English Pomander. To create this blend, you’ll need to combine four drops of the Sweet Orange Oil and one drop of our Celebration Oil to a diffuser. Our Celebration Oil uses a unique blend of basil, clove, cinnamon, sweet fennel, and ylang-ylang. Many customers report that Celebration Oil has a noticeable scent, which is why it compliments the fruity scent of the Sweet Orange so well.

One last blend we love during the holidays is Mulled Cider. Add four drops Sweet Orange Oil, one drop of Cinnamon Oil, and one drop of Ginger Oil to your diffuser. This combination will instantly recreate the smells of a classic holiday beverage.

  1. Thank you for this posting. I appreciate the explanations in diffusers. I have a cold water mist diffuser that is many quite a few years old, even with care and cleaning, I am afraid it it time to replace. These days there are numerous choices in styles but I know that it is important to be buyer aware due to where I will be diffusing and what is best in that area. I do know that I am super particular and do not chose to have e.o. be heated (hot water), I prefer cold mist do that I do not alter the e.o. chemical composition. I really like the recipes you included in the article. Thank you again!!
