7 Natural Ways to Prevent Cold and Flu This Season
7 Home Remedies to Try this Cold and Flu Season
As we enter the cooler months, we also enter cold and flu season. It’s usually inevitable to catch something this time of year, there are still some natural things you can do to prevent you and your family from getting sick and reducing the severity of your illness.
Here are seven tips to help boost your immune system, strengthen your body and mind, and help you avoid spending the cooler seasons sick.
1. Eat Healthy
“You are what you eat” is more than an old adage, it’s true. Eating healthy food makes your body healthy and strong and can help ward off any illness.
2. Clean your Environment
A clean environment will help you keep the microbes that cause illness at bay. Using a Nebulizing Diffuser® with essential oil blends like Burglars and Purity can help you keep your air free of contaminants. Also, because they have antibacterial and antiviral properties, you can also use these oils to wipe down your surfaces.
3. Exercise
Exercise is essential to helping your body stay strong. It also helps you work out the toxins and cleanse your body of damaging elements. Exercise also releases feel good endorphins sending happy signals to the brain.
4. Get Plenty of Sleep
Your body needs plenty of rest to repair itself every day. So make sure you get a full night’s sleep each night. If you have troubles sleeping try a few drops of lavender on your pillow or in a nebulizing diffuser before you go to bed.
5. De-stress
Stress weakens your body and damages your immune system. If you’re feeling a little stressed this season, make sure to take time to relax. A great way to help your body and mind relax is to prepare yourself a hot bath soak for 15 – 20 minutes.
6. Hand Sanitizers
Hand sanitizers can help you avoid the spread of illness. Most store bought hand sanitizers are hard on your skin. Instead consider making a DIY hand sanitizer with a few drops of peppermint, tea tree, or rosemary essential oil and a 2 to 1 mix of vitamin E oil and witch hazel.
7. Aromatherapy Necklace
Using aromatherapy all day with an essential oil diffuser necklace can help prevent bacteria and viruses that cause illness and can also help you stay energized, relaxed, and focused.
Following these tips will help you make sure that you don’t spend the whole cold and flu season sick in bed. Remember, in order for aromatherapy to work effectively, you need to stick with high quality essential oils and a nebulizing diffuser to get the maximum benefits. Organic Aromas® has you covered. Check out our selection before the cold season sets in, so you can stay healthy all winter long!

We don’t get colds often but when we do they seem to stick around for weeks. The last time I got a cold I added eucalyptus essential oil to our cold-fighting arsenal. I used it in my diffuser, in the shower (a few drops on a clean cloth and hung it near the shower head) and topically. Ii believe it really made a difference to how quickly I got over my cold.
