5 Important Benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree is an ancient essential oil that has a ton of incredible uses. Whether used in a nebulizing diffuser in aromatherapy or applied topically, tea tree essential oil is one oil that should have a space in everyone’s essential oil carrier or cabinet. One of the most impressive features of tea tree essential oil, and one of the reasons why it’s such a must-have, is that it provides just as many benefits to the home as it does the body.

Tea Tree Essential Oil Benefits for the Body

  1. Treats Acne

Acne treatment is probably one of the most well-known and celebrated benefits of tea tree essential oil. Even mainstream acne cleansers and products use the power of tea tree essential oil, and for good reason – it really works. One study even found tea tree essential oil to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide in the treatment of stubborn acne breakouts, but without all of the harsh side effects that often come along with it. The natural antibacterial and antiseptic properties of tea tree, combined with skin soothing benefits, can clear acne breakouts while leaving the skin in better shape than ever before. Tea tree essential oil can be used in your daily acne cleanser, or mixed with other ingredients to create a weekly or bi-weekly effective acne mask.

  1. Effective Homemade Deodorant

Body odor isn’t the scent of sweat, it’s actually the scent of bacterial byproducts on the surface of the skin brought out by sweat. By taking away that bacteria, you take away the smell, and that’s just what tea tree essential oil can do. Crossing tea tree essential oil with baking soda and coconut oil provides you with an all-natural deodorant that really works without all of the harsh chemicals. This combination won’t clog pores as easily as traditional deodorants, but it will keep you smelling just as fresh.

  1. Cold and Flu Relief

When you’re struck down with a cold or flu bug, it’s the symptoms that keep you down and out feeling lousy. The chest congestion, the headache, the sinus inflammation and congestion – none of it is very fun. Tea tree essential oil can help not only to purify the air and stop the spread of illness, but it acts as an expectorant to help you to feel better when you’re sick. By breaking up and loosening congestion, your body will be better able to expel it from our system.

  1. Home Cleanser

The same antimicrobial properties that make tea tree essential oil so effective at combating acne also make it an excellent choice in natural home cleaning. Simply combining tea tree essential oil with water, vinegar, and lemon essential oil can give you an inexpensive and effective home cleaning solvent to work on any surface in any room of the home. The antimicrobial properties work to take care of bacteria and those bad bugs that could be lurking unseen on surfaces, leaving you with a clean you can be confident in.

  1. Air Purifying

The air in our homes probably isn’t as clean as we think it is or as we’d like it to be. We spend the majority of our time indoors, and the majority of that time in our homes, breathing in air that could be ripe with bacterial, fungi, and pollutants we’d rather not be breathing in. Tea tree essential oil helps to cleanse and to purify the air, eliminating microbes, fungi, and bacteria before you’re able to breathe it in to your respiratory system. The most effective method to purify the air is with a nebulizing diffuser.
