TOP 5 Most Popular (and Useful) Essential Oil Pairings

Lavender and Rosemary

This classic one-two punch of therapeutic essential oil aromatherapy is popular at spas and among masseuses for its ability to relax and relieve pain. When combined these two essential oils form an effective elixir with both a captivating aroma and tangible health benefits.

Lavender is surely one of the most beautiful and readily recognizable scents among all essential oils. Known for its proven ability to calm, reduce tension and as a sleep aid, for many lavender is part of the foundation of aromatherapy. Soothing and refreshing, lavender is an excellent tonic to treat nerves and anxiety issues. Lavender essential oil is also good for improving the circulation of blood in the body.

Rosemary provides a herby, camphorous scent that adds a lovely touch to the sweet floral Lavender. Not only is the aroma exceptionally beautiful, massaging skin and muscle tissue with rosemary essential oil can quickly relieve pain and soreness. Rosemary essential oil can also help overcome fatigue and has certain anti-inflammatory qualities as well. Furthermore, it is known to stimulate blood circulation, which can promote faster healing and recovery time.
The plants are both shrub-like perennials with fragrant leaves and flowers. Both plants are from the mint family.

Grapefruit and Peppermint

Few people understand the huge impact olfactory stimulation can have on our lives. When using certain essential oils you can actually energize, stimulate and uplift. It is not difficult to have a direct and positive impact on any environment, whether a single person or a group.

While uses for grapefruit essential oil are many, from cleansing to anti-oxidant properties, one of the best functions is for uplifting the mind to create clarity and confidence. This essential oil can stimulate the brain and nervous system to help make you more active and alert. Moreover, grapefruit essential oil can help regulate metabolism and can spur the appetite.

Peppermint is certainly one of the most refreshing and invigorating scents we might smell. In addition to containing menthol which is a strong anesthetic, the stimulating effects of peppermint essential oil have been shown to increase blood circulation. This can help oxygenate the body’s organs and increase metabolism leading to higher cognitive function.

Peppermint is a hybrid herb plant that is indigenous to Europe and the Middle East.

The grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree known for its sour to semi-sweet fruit. The essential oil comes from the fruit peel, extracted via cold pressing.

Ylang-Ylang and Rose Geranium

It is widely known that essential oils can be used for many indications, from helping with head, stomach and toothaches to something much different…

That’s right, essential oils can also be very handy in the bedroom! In fact, the sense of smell can have a powerful effect on the emotions and can stimulate the production of neurotransmitters which can lead to increased libido.

The powerful, yet sweet, soft and flowery fragrance of Ylang-Ylang has become a romantic favorite. Ylang-ylang essential oil can act as an aphrodisiac, elevating sexual energy and enhancing sensuality. This unique scent helps to invigorate the senses, calms the nerves and improves circulation.

Rose Geranium has a fantastic smooth and sweet floral scent that will capture your attention in a delightful way. The light and delicate aroma may act to balance hormone levels and is a mild, refreshing stimulant. The combination of the two fragrances can be extremely arousing and calming at the same time.

Cananga odorata, commonly called ylang-ylang, grows as a small tree or compact climbing shrub and originates from Southeast Asia.

Rose Geranium is not to be confused with the actual Rose flower as they are distinctly different, although their scents are reminiscent of one another. Rose Geranium is a flowering annual and perennial plant originating from Africa and Australia.

Orange essential oil provides quick and effective relief from internal and external inflammation as well. A powerful antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant and antiseptic, cinnamon essential oil has a delightfully fulfilling warm, spicy smell. I love almost all of these oils, we are using rosemary for kids for easier learning, so I will try to add lavender, which might be a nice combination to calm down and concentrate on the task. Geranium and ylang are also our favorites, I am looking forward to using this combination.
